Justin Falzon is exhibiting a series of etchings at the Art..e Gallery in Victoria.

His work is inspired by the human figure which, in his hands, has been distorted to represent the seven deadly sins. Thus, his figures carry a certain struggle and transitoriness.

The artist uses the traditional etching technique combined with other methods, such as aquatint, soft ground, dry point and sugar lift on copper plates printed on Fabriano paper.

Mr Falzon studied Fine Arts at the Loreno De Medici Art Institute of Florence. During the four-year course at the institute, he focused on drawing, painting and printmaking.

His solo exhibitions include Insight (2001), Insearch of the Soul (2006) and Still Life (2006). In 2008, he participated in a collective exhibition in Prato, Italy, with the collaboration of Centro per l’Arte Contemporanea Luigi Pecci Prato. During the same year he participated in a group exhibition entitled Art Clash at the California State University in Florence, three of his paintings were consequently chosen by the Museum of Contemporary art in Florina, Greece.

• Just Etchings runs at Art..e Gallery, Victoria till December 7.
