A mixed-gender secondary school for sport will be launched in the next academic year.
The students will be academically trained in all subjects, including those related to sport, and they will have enough time to train in their sporting disciplines during school hours.
The government is addressing a gap in the sports sector where promising athletes lose their physical and sporting development because of lack of time for training during secondary school years. Some €100,000 are being allocated to kick-start this project.
A further €120,000 will be allocated for scholarships in the sports sector so that prospective sportsmen could continue investing in their skills abroad.
