The roads will absorb €50 million of the government’s Budget next year.

Finance minister Tonio Fenech in the Budget speech this year did not announce any new projects but said the works will be focused on the road to Valletta waterfront in Marsa;  Council of Europe Road and Garibaldi Road in Luqa, Marfa Road in Melieha and the Xewkija  to Victoria Road in Gozo, all of which are already progress, the December 13 Road underpass and the Ta’ Pennellu bypass in Mellieha.

Works will also be carried out on 140 residential roads with an investment of €7 million.

Local councils are to allocated €1.4 million for public-private partnerships on road-building.
