The Pembroke Athleta nursery said the recently-held seminar for coaches was a total success with the healthy participation of local football administrators who continued to enhance their knowledge thanks to expert guidance from an array of experienced speakers.
Youth FA chairman Fr Hilary Tagliaferro, who opened the seminar, focused on the role of nurseries within local football clubs.
Foreign guests Jamie Edwards, an FA tutor and Hereford United Youth Development Officer, and Gwyn Jones, head match analyst, elaborated on youth development.
Edwards and Jones also held practical instructional sessions at the Pembroke Athleta grounds.
There was also a strong representation from the Malta FA at the seminar.
The delegation was headed by president Norman Darmanin Demajo, vice-president Ludo-vigo Micallef and technical director Robert Gatt.
“These kind of meetings are vital to continue im-proving the quality of football coaching in our country,” Darmanin Demajo was quoted as saying.
“The seminar was a useful exercise, particularly for youth football administrators.”
Among other interesting topics discussed during the seminar was biomechanical screening and how this practice helps to prevent injuries for young athletes. The talk was delivered by physiotherapist Raymond Bezzina.
In a statement, the Pembroke Athleta nursery thanked the participants and the lecturers for their valid contribution.
Radisson Blu Resort & Spa Golden Sands, sponsored the event.
