Tennis: Japan’s rising star Kei Nishikori climbed eight places to 24th on the strength of his appearance in Sunday’s Basel final where he lost to Roger Federer, who remains fourth, in the latest ATP rankings published on Monday. The top ten remain unchanged with Serbia’s Novak Djokovic continuing to top the rankings on 13,785 points, clear of Rafael Nadal on 10,375, with Andy Murray in third.

Rugby Union: Three uncapped players were included yesterday in the Wallabies squad for their Tour of Britain with many of the Rugby World Cup side injured and unavailable. Australia meet the Barbarians at Twickenham on November 26 followed by a Test against Wales at the Millennium Stadium on December 3, the team they beat 21-18 in the World Cup bronze medal match. With an eye on the future, coach Robbie Deans has included the Queensland Reds pair of centre Ben Tapuai and fullback Ben Lucas, and the NSW Waratahs loose forward Dave Dennis in the squad.

Formula One: Three Formula One stables – Team Lotus, Lotus Renault and Virgin - will change their name for the 2012 world championship season. Team Lotus will be called Caterham F1 while Lotus Renault will take the name Lotus and Virgin will be known as Marussia F1. Following a meeting of the F1 Commission presided over by Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone in Geneva midweek, the FIA approved the request of the teams to change their names.

American Football: The Green Bay Packers remained the NFL’s only undefeated team on Sunday, beating the San Diego Chargers 45-38 with four touchdown passes from star quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers threw touchdowns to Jermichael Finley, Jordy Nelson, James Jones and Greg Jennings and the Packers ran back a pair of Philip Rivers interceptions for scores as Green Bay held on for the win despite a wild finish. Rodgers completed 21 of 26 passes for 247 yards for the Packers who improved to 8-0.
