The government, as expected this evening, won a confidence vote in parliament, with all 35 government MPs voting in favour and the Opposition's 34 MPs voting against.

The speakers were Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi, Foreign Minister Tonio Borg, Opposition leader Joseph Muscat and deputy PL leader Anglu Farrugia.

Nationalist MP Franco Debono made a short explanation before the vote, reiterating his backing for the governemnt and saying that last week's vote was about a minister's individual responsibility. He regretted that because of poor implementation, the bus service reform had now also landed on the prime minister's lap.
