Lino Spiteri’s gradual shift
I am a regular reader of Lino Spiteri’s column in The Sunday Times because his political views are generally balanced. However, I have noticed a gradual shift in his writings recently, in that he is being more critical of the government and of the Prime Minister in particular. This could clearly be seen in his column of September 25 and particularly in his defence of his two former ministerial colleagues, Alex Sceberras Trigona and Karmenu Vella.
He made his positive comments about these two consultants of Labour leader Joseph Muscat even though he admits that they are no alternative to Lawrence Gonzi.
I shall continue to read Mr Spiteri’s column, but with greater caution than before.

Great caution should, in my opinion, be always exercised, especially when reading a letter such as the above. I remember the eu referendum days when a section of the media made constant reference to what Mr Spiteri had to say on our EU application, yet conveniently ignored what he had to say about the PN handling of Government finances and the huge spending prior to the election won by labour, with the bills ending up on the desk of Mr Spiteri to pay as the NP made a din on how labour had increased spending when in actual fact it was PN spending!
So what I suggest to Mr Borg is to remian selective. Quote the parts that are to his liking and ignore the rest. As for me i will embrace all that Mr Lino Spiteri says because the world is made up of blue and red and large chunks of in-between.

If the labour party wins the next general election, there will be several bidders for a room in San Anton Gardens.

Mr Borg, alternatively you can always read what Dr Franco Debono (Nationalist MP) had to say recently.

Is it Lino Spiteri that is shifting or is it the Government policies that have shifted to the extreme, hence the reason for Lino Spiteri's is still defending the facts>

My guess is that the Government policies that have shifted to the extreme.

It seems that Mr Borg only gives credence to columnists who write what he wants to read.
