Trawler sinks after collision with Maltese-flagged ship
A Maltese-registered ship is alleged to have collided with a small trawler off Croatia but failed to pick up survivors.
The bulk carried Joerg N is reported to have collided with the trawler Golub five miles off Pula in Croatia earlier this week, causing its sinking. The fishermen took to their emergency dinghies and reached shore safely.
The Maltese-flagged ship is in Rijeka for inspection by the maritime authorities.

Honestly, I just cannot understand why in these days of such high technology and sophisticated navigational aids, ships still collide. Do all the members of both crews go to sleep all at once? unless stearing control is lost while the ships are too close which is highly impropable.
