Three Air Malta employees were accused in court today of having stolen nine iPhones from a package being held in the courier warehouse at the airport last Thursday.

The phones belonged to a tourist and a Maltese man.

Joseph Aquilina, 54 and Joseph Grech, 57, pleaded not guilty and were granted bail against a guarantee of €3,500.

Adrian Caruana, 32, pleaded guilty and declared he had returned the items he stole. He was condemned to a two-year jail term suspended for three years after the court noted his early admission, his cooperation with the police and the fact that he had no previous convictions.
