A high-ranking delegation from the Malta Football Players Association (MFPA) will hold separate meetings with the Marsaxlokk players and committee members on Tuesday to discuss the Premier League club’s financial plight.

Marsaxlokk are passing through a very difficult time, both on and off the pitch. Last month, the debt-ridden Premier League club passed a vote of no confidence in then president Robert Micallef but the club’s situation has deteriorated since then.

Winston Muscat resigned from his post as Marsaxlokk coach last week and the club have yet to appoint a successor.

Successive 3-1 defeats to Qormi and Balzan Youths have left the southerners second from bottom in the standings, level with Tarxien Rainbows on seven points.

Off the field, the Marsaxlokk players have not been paid for a number of months.
