Labour and the education system
The new Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology project, a €250,000 ICT project at the University of Malta, the opening of a new school every year, the greater choice of evening courses at the Employment and Training Corporation and local councils, distance learning evening courses and more were among the ambitious and successful projects this government delivered to students, adults and the elderly. These projects show the success being achieved in the education sector.
Even Opposition Leader Joseph Muscat recognised this during a visit he paid to Mcast on October 28, when he said the project was ambitious and that, ironically, his party would be investing more money to bring about more stability for the students.
This after weeks of criticising the government for spending a lot of money on this sector and not achieving its goals because too many students are leaving school at an early age and a few years after his predecessor promised students that he would give them stipends on loan!
Ironically Dr Muscat spilled his first pre-election promise by contradicting himself. Dr Muscat will invest more in order to bring stability to students; and this after saying that the government was spending too much and not reaching goals.
How is he going to keep students from leaving school at an early age? How is he going to invest this money? From where is he going to get the money to reduce electricity prices, invest more in education and lower the cost of living of us Maltese? How does he plan to have less income and spend more? And what about the deficit? In a desperate moment to grunge on some votes Dr Muscat is willing to say anything on anything at any time.

In Education, please keep the standards and not just the Titles.
Bring back mathematics in Physics and associated subjects as we are becoming a nation of qualitative vociferous nation rather then calculators and analysers of logic !
Private schools contracting IT personnel on oursourced courses ahoud employ qualifies teachers please as the behaviour in some classes, including sitting on a chair in the Pre birth stance and feet on desks indicates that students are yet not ready for certain directions and lowering standards does not achieve much in the long run.
Also teachers should learn the core subjects they teach as pedagogy on its own is not enough. Please get ridof the ide that people with pedagogy can teach any subject on earth. Some of these teachers are making a mess of the core subjects. On the other hand those who are experts in the core subjects do need some pedoagogies too. This is an old story and the result of this is that Physics at O level has lost mostof its calculations and have become a talking subject, which does not make students know physics.
The entry to University in certain professions is suffering because of this and soon University students need to be given foundation courses in Physics and Mathematics, at a level we did when we were 14 years old at the Dockyard School.
