The planning authority has rejected a request to amend the plans of the proposed €120 million tourist complex at Ħondoq ir-Rummien that would replace a yacht marina with a swimming lagoon.

The developers have been advised that this should be done through a new and separate planning application.

The proposals for the controversial complex were recently slammed by the authority’s environment unit as “objectionable” due to its potentially negative environmental impact.

A spokesman for the authority said it had advised the applicant that the latest submissions cover a site area that goes beyond that of the current applications.
