Pumpkin ville

The village of Manikata yesterday celebrated the pumpkin in a festival that took place on the eve of Halloween. Among the delicacies on offer were savoury pumpkin pies, pumpkin risotto, pumpkin soup and pumpkin tea cakes. Pumpkins and other vegetables produced by Manikata farmers were on sale and pumpkin sculptures added a touch of artistry to the event.

Did you say the price in Malta Mr.Grima, well we're foreigner and most gozitans just throw at us where they got so many to give away FREE, so my answer would be GRATIS-FOR NICKS, then again although we are not from these shores, we tend to mix with the poeple and not be stuck up like most of my countrymen i know of, we are no snobs* or think we are better off then the Gozitans, friendlyness and respect is the answer. I am jealous for your luck Mr Stewart! The most two things which I can remember the most (as a Maltese tourist in Gozo) was higher prices and parking tickets when parked legally.

Probably because you're not a Gozitan, as a matter of fact we got to know 99% of the wardens and they do know who is Maltese exspecailly on the weekends who is a local resident, this also goes for the ferry prices, its much cheaper for the locals then the Maltese, a bit unluky there my son, try changing your ID to a Gozitan address,. and then same as we you'll also be able to get free local produce when in season, Malta you can keep it for all i care, ok for one day visiting and shopping but i can asure you we are always glad to get back to Gozo for a bit of peace and quiet and tranquil, the only problem is some foreigners mainly British think that they are better then the Gozitans and tend to look down on them and never mix, the answer ofcouse is to treat these people as you would like to be treated and thats with respect and friendliness, the rest is easy.

I guess you are absolutly right Charlie me ol'mate, its true that most of our country man think they are God's gift to Gozo and Malta in that respect, however the people that tend to reside in Gozo are mostly all has beens, separated, divorced or getting divorced, and being old the only think they have on their mind is cheap booze not forgetting some think that that still rule the Maltese as in the days of the colonial time, when the Maltese and sepacially the Gozitans were treated as scivvies., well someone ought to tell them that those days are long gone and the Gozitans have now come up in the world and they are just as good if not better then them in their own right. fair play to them, me i love the place and tghe people are friendly and always willing to help . Cheers
