Anonymous objections should not be accepted by MEPA, the Malta Developers Association said.
In a statement issued following the announcement that the authority is to have information on development applications accessible online for everybody from its website, the MDA said that while it welcomed the decision that all objections and correspondence with objectors will now be made public, more often than not, such objections were not genuine and made with ulterior motives.
Moreover, MEPA should not encourage and support the anonymous letter culture, it said.
MDA also requested MEPA to start screening all objections to development applications to ensure that these objections are based on planning considerations since otherwise they should be rejected outright.
