According to Maurice Mizzi, hunting, even if legal, is morally wrong. Perhaps then he would care to explain why decent people like the Duke of Edinburgh, his sons and his grandchildren indulge in it, and do not bother to hide the fact.

Perhaps he could also explain what made Pope John Paul II in November 1991 give an audience to a delegation of the CIC (Conseil Internationale de la Chasse) at the Vatican, at which he blessed the hunting representatives with these words: “Give my salvation, wishes, and blessing to the big family of hunters.”

Perhaps Mr Mizzi will tell us why on September 10, 2009, the European Court of Justice ruled in favour of the ‘immorality’ of allowing spring hunting.

Finally, I for one would be interested to learn also what, if anything, Mr Mizzi has to say about the fact that the European Union recognises what it calls the “right to hunt” of over seven million of its citizens, and publishes official documents specifically to guide them in this ‘immoral’ practice.
