A protest walk for the public to express their dissatisfaction in the public transport system is being held on Friday in Valletta at 6 p.m., by the newly set up group Reboot.
The group, made up of about 15 people, told the media this morning it was initiating a campaign to express public dissatisfaction at the system, handled by Transport Malta and Arriva.
The protest walk is being held on Friday, when the vote on the motion of no confidence in Transport Minister Austin Gatt is to be taken.
Urging everyone to attend, Ryan Dalli said that issues Reboot is complaining about include the lack of proper route training for drivers, the very limited functioning access ramps for wheelchairs on buses, the improper functioning of prepaid cards and payment machines and the complete disuse of the electronic system at bus stops and interchanges.
Mr Dalli said there was a need for more bus stop shelters, more reliable timetables and a more reliable service. The group also wants the reintroduction of reduced fares for the disabled.
He said he situation had become one of TM and Arriva shifting responsibility while people's lives were constantly being disrupted by bad service.
"Their incompetence and mismanagement have negatively affected the lives of many people who end up having to get lifts.
"The use of more cars because of an inefficient public transport also add on to environmental and health concerns," he said.
