The Islands and Small States Institute of the University of Malta, in collaboration with the Faculty of Science, is organising a public seminar followed by a discussion.

The theme of the seminar will be Climate Change: Impacts And Evidence. The guest speaker will be Peter Mills, vice-principal of Harper Adams University College, UK who is a well-known expert on the impacts of climate change on agriculture. Four other speakers from the University of Malta will be delivering short presentations related to climate change impacts and evidence. Eman Calleja from the Islands and Small States Institute will be assessing the impacts of climate change on European islands.

Noel Aquilina, from the Physics Department will talk about climate research tools of analysis. Alan Deidun from the Physical Oceanography Unit will present an overview of existing evidence of climate change from the marine perspective. Charles Galdies of the Institute of Earth Systems will give an overview of trends and analysis in the climate of Malta between 1951 and 2010.

The dean of the Faculty of Science, Charles Sammut, will chair the seminar. The presentations will be followed by a discussion.

The lecture is being held on Thursday at the Maths and Physics building, room 401, University of Malta, from 6 to 8 p.m.
