Wanderers hold Valletta

Valletta and Sliema Wanderers shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw at the Tedesco Stadium this evening.

The Citizens, who were looking for the three points that would lift them to the top of the Premier League standings, made the brighter start and took the lead after 55 minutes when Roderick Briffa's stinging drive flew past Sliema goalkeeper Anthony Curmi.

Sliema's response soon arrived and managed to draw level ten minutes later. Roderick Bajada turned past two Valletta defenders before firing a low shot that had the better of Andrew Hogg, the Valletta goalkeeper.

Sliema midfielder Roderick Bajada was voted as the BOV Player of the match.
