Chaos broke out in Naples yesterday morning as fans squabbled while queuing to buy tickets for next week’s Champions League match between Bayern Munich and Napoli in Germany.

There were 2,500 tickets on sale at Napoli’s San Paolo ground yesterday but around 5,000 people queued to try and buy the tickets.

Some people had queued over-night, staying at the ground after Napoli’s 2-0 win over Udinese on Wednesday.

But chaos ensued when turnstiles opened at 10 a.m. yesterday and some fans climbed barriers to try to jump the queue.

The sale of tickets had to be suspended while police restored order, although at one point bottles and other objects were thrown at the police.

A similar scene took place last year when tickets went on sale for Napoli’s Europa League match away to Liverpool.
