Maltese business delegation to visit Australia
A 15-strong business delegation from Malta will be visiting Sydney and Melbourne to explore the trade and investment opportunities in Australia and promote two-way business cooperation.

Meetings will also be held with members of the Australian-Maltese Chamber of Commerce and the Maltese-Australian Business and Professional Association of Victoria.
Companies from Malta and Australia will have the possibility of exploring potential cooperation such as trade, joint ventures and technology commercialisation as well as establishing fruitful contacts and leads that they would then be able to follow up for their mutual benefit through which.
Additionally, Malta Enterprise – the Maltese government’s corporation responsible for trade and investment promotion – will be showcasing the myriad of opportunities that Malta offers Australian companies, particularly those wishing to expand their business overseas in the European market.
Sectors in which companies forming part of the business delegation operate include financial services, ICT, pharmaceuticals and healthcare, renewable energy, high value-added manufacturing, food and beverages, as well as travel and tourism, all of which have been identified as key pillars of the Maltese economy in the government’s strategy and consequently are being assisted through a wide range of fiscal and financial incentives to facilitate further growth and the creation of new opportunities.
Details will also be given about Malta’s efficient tax system which effectively has one of the lowest corporate reates in the EU, the competitive cost structure with low social costs and competitive labour costs, as well as how Australian enterprises can take advantage of Malta’s strategic location in the centre of the Mediterranean Sea to access other neighbouring markets which besides Europe also comprise those in North Africa and the Middle East.
The economic, political and social stability which the country managed to maintain even throughout the international crisis and the availability of highly-skilled, English-speaking human resources will also be discussed during the business events.
The business delegation is being organised by Malta Enterprise with the support of the Malta High Commission in Australia, the Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry and the General Retailers and Traders Union, in collaboration with the New South Wales Business Chamber and the Victorian Employers’ Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
