Ukranian Sergeii Nykytiuk, 41, was this evening jailed for 25 years after jurors found him guilty of having caused the death of his wife Lyudmila two years ago.

The woman fell down a lift shaft in a block of flats in Ramon Perellos Street, St Paul’s Bay after a fierce argument with her husband.

The court heard how the husband  did nothing to help his wife when he heard her crying for help, and she bled to death.
