While I tend to agree with John Caruana’s sentiments (The Valletta Only Lane, October 20), putting bollards all the way up to the zebra crossing would mean that cars entering or leaving the car park would have to go all the way round the Msida roundabout to do so.

This also applies to those wanting to leave the car park and drive straight ahead into Rue D’Argens. And that would also include any cyclists who use the car park as a useful shortcut to keep out of the way of the heavy traffic.

The simplest way to solve this problem, and it has been mentioned before, is to connect a red light to the storm water alarm system. This would only turn off allowing traffic to pass when flooding occurs, thus using the lane as originally intended.

The red light would stop those who would dodge being caught at Msida’s traffic lights.
