Neptunes land striker Mercieca from Sirens

Outstanding player says Reds boss

Neptunes Emirates, winners of the BOV National League and Cup double this year, have made an important acquisition for their team when they signed Clint Mercieca from Sirens Ritter Sport.

This was announced by Neptunes WPSC president, Matthew Bonello, who said that the new recruit should definitely strengthen the Balluta Bay team.

Rumours were rife at the close season of the Sirens’ player joining Neptunes, but news that the deal has been concluded was only announced yesterday.

Bonello expressed his satisfaction at this important signing.

“We are very pleased to have signed Clint. He is such an out-standing player and we are confident that he can give a significant contribution to our team,” he said.

“Our aim is to keep strengthening the squad in order to compete for the top honours as befits our club.

“Clint will be a very important asset for us in this respect.”

Mercieca, 29, has been a prolific goal-getter for Sirens and the fact that he finished top-scorer for the northerners in recent seasons attests to his qualities.

The player, who scored 37 goals last season, has also been a regular in the national team in recent years.
