Marriages

Dr JONATHAN MAMO, MD and Dr CHANTAL FENECH, MD

The marriage took place on October 22 at Lapsi church, St Julian’s, between JONATHAN, eldest son of Mr and Mrs Giovann Mamo of Qawra, and CHANTAL, only daughter of Mr and Mrs Ray Fenech of Pembroke. Fr John Avellino officiated. The ceremony was witnessed by Mrs Marion Calleja Koenig and Dr David Mamo. The bride was attended by her childhood friends, Ms Lorraine Portelli as maid of honour, Dr Sarah Chetcuti and Ms Monique Frendo, her cousin, Ms Karina Debono and the groom’s sister, Ms Ruth Mamo.  Ms Julia Camilleri and Ms Rebecca Sciberras were flower-girls. Mr Nicholas Mamo and Mr Alan Grech carried out the duties of best men, while Mr Paul Attard, Dr Ralph Attard, Mr Nicholas Borg, Mr Julian Mamo and Mr Josef Pace were ushers. A reception was later held at Palazzo Promontorio, Wardija.

Obituary

ANASTASI. On October 21, at Mater Dei Hospital, PAULINE, née Schembri, widow of Oreste, at the age of 93, passed peacefully away, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Albert and his wife Vicki, Bernie, Clare and her husband Mark Guillaumier, and her grandchildren Cindy, Betta, Susannah, Alain and Martina. She also leaves to mourn her loss her sister, Connie Azzopardi and her brothers Lino, Lollie and Tony in Australia, their respective husband and wives, as well as her nephews and nieces. The funeral cortège leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 1.45 p.m. for St Gregory’s parish church, Sliema, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 2.15 p.m., followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata cemetery. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

BASSET. On October 14, Sister ELIZABETH, died peacefully at the Convent of the Sacred Heart, Roehampton, London.  Sister Elizabeth carried out the mission of the Society of the Sacred Heart in Malta for a number of years. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

CASSAR TRIGONA. On October 20 at St Catherine’s Home, Attard, GODFREY ANTHONY, aged 83, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Odette née Schembri, his adored children, Edwina and Paul Camilleri, Lucienne and Edwin Gera and Claire, widow of Ray Vella, his dearest grandchildren Erika and David, Matthew and Astride, Gag, Amenia, Emma and Philip, and great-grandchildren Ella, Nina, Luca, Alec and Ines, his sisters Mary Wirth and Nellie Demajo Albanese and his sister-in-law Frances, widow of his brother Edwin, his beloved nephews and nieces, and the community of St Catherine’s Home who cared for him with so much love and dedication. The funeral was held yesterday morning at St Mary’s parish church, Attard. May the Lord grant him eternal rest.

GAUCI. On October 22 at Mater Dei Hospital, CARMEN née Polidano, aged 87, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Angela and Gustav Delicata, Juanita and Edward Pillow, Babette and Michael Scerri, daughter-in-law Rita, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, her sister Yolanda and her in-laws Cettina Polidano, Josephine Gauci and Vivienne Gauci, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 8 a.m. for St Gregory’s parish church, Sliema, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 8.45 a.m., followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata cemetery. Lord grant her eternal rest.

RIZZO. On October 21, at St Vincent de Paul Residence, EFFIE (former auctioneer), widower of Ċensina née Gingell, aged 88, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his sons James and Rina, Mary, widow of Albert, Winston and Rose of Australia, Marie, widow of Alfie and William and Colette, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves St Vincent de Paul Residence tomorrow at 8 a.m. for Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish church, Gżira, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 8.30 a.m., followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar Tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.
