A short course of five three-hour lectures entitled ‘Internal Quality Auditing based on ISO9001:2008’ will be held during November and December at the University Residence, Robert Mifsud Bonnici Street, Lija, organised by Malta University Consulting Ltd.

The programme is designed for people who need a sound understanding of the techniques and principles of quality and internal auditing.

It focuses on the most important attributes of a modern and effective quality management system and the role of the auditor in its development and continual improvement.

It helps delegates understand ISO 9001:2008 standard and the eight quality management principles.

Topics to be covered include overviews of the ISO 9001:2008 and ISO19011 standards, objectives of internal audits, the role of internal auditors, effective auditing techniques and good audit practice.

This course is essential for organisations undertaking internal quality audits, and personnel required to plan, manage and implement internal audit programmes. The course will also be useful for team leaders and supervisors in quality-driven organisations who are looking to broaden their awareness of quality issues to understand how they can improve their overall contribution to the success of the business.

Participants need not have any past auditing or quality management experience. The course will be led by Adrian Agius. A Mechanical Engineering graduate from the University of Malta in 1988, he was later engaged as engineering manager and later as quality manager with various manufacturing companies.

During this period he acquired the IRCA certificate as a quality lead auditor based on ISO9000:2000 and ISO/TS16949:2002 from UK.

He was recently certified as an aviation internal auditor by IATA and took up posts of quality manager in local aviation enterprises.

He is an aviation consultant with Aeronautica Malta in collaboration with the Joint Aviation Authorities Training Organisation.

A certificate of attendance will be issued to participants who attend at least 80 per cent of the sessions. The registration deadline is October 31.
