An evening of music for clarinet and piano will be held in the Music Room, St James Cavalier, Valletta, next Sunday at 7 p.m.

Duo Concertante, a duo of local musicians including Gisèle Grima (piano) and Lino Pirotta (clarinet) have recently collaborated to present an all-French programme of late 19th and 20th century works.

The recital will include Sonatas for Clarinet and Piano by Saint-Saëns and Poulenc. Added to these will be duo works by Pierné, Milhaud, Honegger and Rabaud as well as piano solo works by Debussy.

An avid interpreter and performer of Maltese contemporary music, Pirotta has recorded Mouse in the Machine by Ruben Zahra which was later released on CD. He also forms part of the Denner Clarinet Quartet, The Equinox Ensemble and the Crossbreed Ensemble.

In 2010, Grima made her debut as a concerto artist with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Michael Laus.

Grima has given recitals in several venues around Malta, UK, Sicily, Finland, Iceland, South-West France and Syria.

Tickets may be obtained from boxoffice@sjcav.org or 2122 3200.
