Prosecutors will demand time in jail for Lindsay Lohan after arguing that she is in violation of her probation in a theft case.

Los Angeles City Attorney spokesman Frank Mateljan said the recommendation to be made in court is based on Ms Lohan’s departure from a women’s shelter where she had been doing community service.

Ms Lohan spokesman Steve Honig declined to comment. She is due in court to update a judge on her probation progress.

A city prosecutor is overseeing Ms Lohan’s probation in the misdemeanour theft case filed after the actress was charged with taking a €2,500 necklace without permission. Ms Lo­han pleaded no contest in May.
