CBM to issue new euro coin set

The Central Bank of Malta is issuing a new euro coin set dated 2011 which will incorporate the eight Maltese euro coins, designed by Noel Galea Bason.

The set also includes a €2 commemorative coin, bearing the inscription ‘First Elected Representatives – 1849’.  This coin was designed by Ġanni Bonnici and is the first in a series of five €2 commemorative coins commemorating Malta’s constitutional history.

The set, which will be in a distinctive box, will also include a replica coin of the Punic period, the original of which is currently held in the Bank’s Currency Museum collection.

The set will be on sale from Wednesday at €35 including VAT from the Malta Coins Distribution Centre at the main building of the Central Bank of Malta.

@Paul Barrett: if you don't like it then don't buy it. Just for your information there is a big difference between a replica coming from an authorised supplier and a forge. Quite frightening how many lack basic education.

@ C Cassar. You seem to have missed the element of humour in the comment.

A forge by the way is the workplace of a smith or a blacksmith which makes your use of this word slightly irrelivent to my comment.
