The third edition of the President's Fun Run will take place on Sunday December 4 to raise funds for the Malta Community Chest Fund.

The fun run will be part of the fund raiser events leading up to the annual Boxing Day charity event L-Istrina.

Speaking during the launch of this year's fun run this morning, President George Abela said that event served a double beneficial purpose: it encouraged people to exercise and be healthy and also helped raise funds for charity.

He said that the run, themed I Will for Charity, was launched over a month in advance to allow people the time to start training to build the stamina to join in. Dr Abela said that the first fun run attracted some 5,000 people that increased to 8,000 last year. The goal was to attract even more people this year, he said.

As with pervious years the run will start at the San Anton Palace in Attard and end in St George's Square in Valletta. Those who prefer to walk can join in at the Fleur de Lys roundabout.

Those wishing to register can do so by collecting a form from Banif Bank outlets, from the MCCF offices at San Anton or the President's Palace in Valletta or by visiting www.funrun.org.mt.

Registration costs €10 and those who register will be given a T-shirt and a bib bearing their number as well as a participation certificate.
