A man who was convicted of dumping a dog in a skip and leaving it to die was today denied a request for bail until his appeal is decided.

Joseph Galea was earlier this month sentenced to nine months in prison and fined €20,000 for dumping the Boxer in a plastic bag in a skip in Kalkara. The dog subsequently suffocated and died.

Mr Galea filed an appllication for bail until his appeal is decided but the Court said Mr Galea could nto be trusted and bail was denied.

The appeal will be heard on November 9.
