• Animals United will be screened at the Don Bosco Oratory today at 5.30 p.m.

• The liturgical feast of St Francis of Assisi is being celebrated by the Franciscan community of Għajnsielem today. At 9 a.m. there will be games by Buzzy Kids Entertainment in the parking area of the convent. A parade by the Mosta Scout Group will leave from Għajnsielem council to St Anthony church at 9 a.m. The blessing of animals will be held at 10 a.m.

• Għar Ilma hill will be lit by hundreds of fjakkoli on the feast of Our Lady of Fatima being celebrated in Santa Luċija today. The event is being held by the Għaqda Armar 13 ta’ Diċembru, in collaboration with the Santa Luċija administrative committee.

• The feast of Jesus of Nazareth is being celebrated in Xagħra today. At 10.30 a.m. there will be Mass with the participation of Xagħra youths. Adoration will be held between 1 and 4 p.m., followed by a concelebrated Mass led by archpriest Mgr Carmelo Refalo. The Maria Bambina choir will take part. The Victory Band of Xagħra will accompany the procession.

An evening of entertainment, featuring ‘The Best of Broadway Musicals’ by Xagħra children who attended Summer Club 2011 will be held after the religious functions.

• The Xagħra council, in collaboration with Malta Mini Owners Club, will be organising an exhibition of Minis in Orchard Street, near Nazzarenu church, today between 9.30 a.m. and noon.

• A fundraising sale of furniture, fine china and art will be held at the storage and distribution centre of the Friends of the Sick and the Elderly in Gozo in Mġarr Road, Għajnsielem, today between 2 and 6 p.m.

• Edward Warrington will give a lecture entitled ‘Exile or paradise? Comino on the fringes of Maltese politics and public policy’ at the Gozo Ministry in St Francis Square, Victoria, on Friday at 6.30 p.m. Entrance is free. The lecture is being organised by Wirt Għawdex as part of the society’s 30th anniversary.

• The Victory Band of Xagħra will be holding a thanksgiving Mass at the Collegiate Basilica of the Nativity of Our Lady on Saturday at 7 p.m. to commemorate the 113th anniversary of the society’s foundation. The Nativitas choir will take part.

• The diocesan Eucharistic Movement will hold a prayer evening at Kerċem parish church on Saturday at 8 p.m., followed by Mass atmidnight.

• The Bethel Charismatic Group is holding a prayer meeting at the church of Our Lady of Pompeii, Victoria, on Saturday at 7 p.m.

• The Gozo CCU Foundation will hold a ‘Winter interlude’ evening at the Kempinski Hotel San Lawrenz on November 19 at 7.30 p.m.

The evening will include a reception, dinner and entertainment by the Gaulitanus choir, Mario Caruana and the Wallace Pipes and Drums.
