Malta captain Michael Mifsud is the first ever Maltese player to vote for the FIFPro FIFA World XI.

The Valletta striker was one of the first Maltese players to join the Malta Football Players Association who has given its members the opportunity to vote for the FIFA FIFPro World XI.

FIFA and FIFPro have joined forces to honour the best 11 players of the year with the FIFA FIFPro World XI award. The winners are chosen by over 50,000 professional football players from all over the world, who vote for the best player in each position.

Mifsud said: “I am honoured to join thousands of other professional players around the world to vote for the FIFA FIFPro World XI and to be the first Maltese player to do so.

“Malta is one of the smallest countries but with a great football tradition as the MFA was founded in 1900.”
