Student organisation Youth For The Environment (Y4TE) has adopted a sea turtle through the World Wildlife Fund following an endangered animal adoption campaign held as part of its Fresher’s Week activities to promote awareness among students regarding animals at risk of extinction.

Three ‘critically endangered’ animals – the Przewalski’s Horse, the Sea Turtle, and the Emerald Hummingbird – were selected from the long list of threatened species and students were asked to vote for the one they wanted Y4TE to adopt. The sea turtle emerged as a clear favourite among students.

This is the second year Y4TE have run the campaign, having last year adopted an Amur Leopard in the same way.
