It’s been some time since Cruz last made the headlines, but the band has been far from idle.

Stalk Hawk is the name of the band’s latest single. It is inspired by a broken relationship and an obsessive ex who won’t take no for an answer

The song is a fresh slab of indie rock with hooks a-plenty – a tactic already prominently and successfully exhibited on the band’s 2010 debut single Red Tape – and boosted with the arrival of new drummer Melchior Busuttil.

The new line-up has been together since the beginning of the year, their spirits high after having won two Bay Music Awards just months earlier.

In the months that passed, Cruz has spent much of their time bonding, practising and writing new material.

“Most of the time was spent writing new songs, searching for the next golden track and we believe Stalk Hawk is it,” vocalist Marilyn Mifsud said.

Further to playing at the Beerfest in Ta’ Qali, Cruz’s focus these past months was more on the recording studio, although they’ve been out and about too.

“We recorded the single in August and we’ve also done a promo shoot and some TV appearances to maintain our presence in the run-up to thesingle’s release”.

Cruz also performed atBirgufest earlier this month and is currently working on more live gigs, including the band’s first appearance at Teatru Unplugged in the first week of December.

The band is looking forward to performing at the Manoel Theatre during this year’s Teatru Unplugged.
