Eight killed in California shooting spree
Eight people were killed and three wounded in a shooting at a hairdressing salon in the Southern California city of Seal Beach, police said.
Sgt Steve Bowles told KCAL-TV eight were confirmed dead and the other three victims were in a critical condition after the shooting.
Police arrested a man in a traffic stop half a mile from the shooting scene and multiple weapons were seized.
The shooting happened in a cluster of small businesses on Pacific Coast Highway in the community south east of Los Angeles.
The motive was not immediately known.

The quiet beachfront city of about 25,000 residents identifies itself as the Gateway to Southern California's Orange County and is about 30 miles from Los Angeles.
It is home to Leisure World, a gated senior citizen community of 9,000 people, as well as the Seal Beach Naval Weapons Station military complex.

John is right and Rachel you are incorrect - every state in the union (of our fifty states). You may be thinking about guns laws in DC but that does not restrict the rights of gun owners in the USA.

It's called FREEDOM.
American citezens are FREE to carry arms.
The Second Amendment (Amendment II) to the United States Constitution is the part of the United States Bill of Rights that protects the right of the people to keep and bear arms. It was adopted on December 15, 1791, along with the rest of the Bill of Rights.
The difference is that in 1791, you had a single shot whilst today one can send a stream of bullets.

I am pretty sure that only applies to certain states, not the whole country (ex. Texas)
