Students to receive 'Culture Card'
Some 15,000 students in Forms I, II and III of state, Church and independent schools are to be given a Culture Card with credit of €15 in a new initiative to encourage them to attend cultural events and visit cultural sites.
The initiative was launched this morning by Education Minister Dolores Cristina and Parliamentary Secretary Mario de Marco.
The Card was launched during a ceremony at the Maritime Museum during which grants were also handed out to schools taking part in the 'Kreattiv' project.
The card can be used in three cultural activities with the card holders receiving a discount of €5 in each.
The project sees schools working with individuals and organisations with a view of taking schoolchildren closer to culture.
€80,000 were handed out to assist in 18 projects.
During the ceremony, representatives of Chiswick House School held a presentation about their project to raise awareness about opera. Cospicua School is working on the promotion of arts and music while St Albert The Great College gave a presentation about Valletta.

I personally think that ,if we want to get children interested in museums and other cultural activities,to learn more about ,what's around us, entrance should be free, I dare say even for grown ups, otherwise people don't even bother going unfortunatly.

@Judih Desira
A very good approach to intice our young to show interest in cultural events and visit cultural and historical sites
I completely agree with Ms Desira that all students attending school should be included.

Does the word tolerance follow the word culture? It should in all means.

Why not all forms? Why do we have to discriminate between children?

For a quick online dive into the numerous cultural sites, I would recommend students to visit http://www.maltain360.com. This website offers the facility to explore the sites using 360 degrees panoramas, feels like being there.
