VAT refund on funeral
My father passed away last March and in April I presented the funeral receipts to the VAT Department for refund. My documents were acknowledged by a letter dated April 21 (I had to phone twice so that this acknowledgement was sent to me).
Up to this date I have not yet received the refund. When I phoned a few days ago to see what progress has been made I was informed to wait until the end of November and then phone again. In the meantime, I got several bills from the various government departments to refund an amount of pension received extra (this to be done within a week) and also the income tax bill for 2010.
Does a refund have to take so long to be received by the sole heir?

Lucky you, I never got any and my dad passed away on the 31st December 2002. How's that for service, not even an acknowledgement.

my father passed away in january and i received the refund last week, so be patient. since your father passed away in march then it seems reasonable you'll get yours n november. i understand your frustration -- to give you have to be johnny-on-the-spot, but to receive you have to be a super-Job!!

Ask those departments wanting money to submit their bills to the VAT department. Good luck with that one.

Pay your funeral bill in cash without invoice and you will not have to wait for a vat refund. Ha ..ha ..ha
