AGIUS. On October 9, at St James Hospital, Sliema, JOSEPH M., widower of Sally, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church, surrounded by his family. He leaves to mourn his loss his children Mariella and her husband Mario Scicluna, Paul and his wife Graziella, Victor, Claudia, his beloved grandchildren Michael and Elisa, his brother-in-law Alfred Mizzi and his wife Carmen, his sister-in-law Polly, widow of his brother Albert, his cousin Imelda Cutruffo, Fr Leonard Mahoney O.Carm and the Carmelite fathers, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. The funeral leaves St James Hospital, Sliema, today at 1.45 p.m. for Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish church, Balluta, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2 p.m. followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Carmelite Mission Fund, Balluta, and Hospice Malta will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest. AZZOPARDI. On October 10, at Karin Grech Hospital, MARY, née Vella, passed away peacefully at the venerable age of 96, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her dear children Marlene and her husband Joe, John and his wife Estelle and Elizabeth and her husband Norman, her sister Rose and her husband Willie. She will also be greatly missed by her beloved grandchildren Fiona and her husband Tony, Jason and his wife Gerardine, Mark and his wife Marisa, Adriana, Jean Paul, Hazel and her husband Jan, Gordon and Christa and her husband Carlo, and by her dearest great-grandchildren, Roxanne, Nick, Mark, Ellen, Jordan, Millie, Matthew, Maya, Jan and Zoe, Francesca, Christian, Keith, Rebecca, Yasmine, Michael and Lucia, her great-great-grandson Karl, numerous relatives and friends. Mass præsente cadavere will be said tomorrow at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish church, St Julians, followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. On October 8, HECTOR, aged 87, sadly missed by Avril, his wife of 57 years, his sons Evan and his wife Christine, and Simon and his wife Michele, his grandchildren Oliver, Emily, Rebecca, Benjamin, Edmund and Adam, other relatives and friends. Mass præsente cadavere will be said today at 9.15 a.m. at San Ġwann parish church. No flowers by request but donations to Hospice Malta, Balzan, and/or Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. Course on prisons
The NGO Mid-Dlam Għad-Dawl is organising a seven-week course exploring the ins and outs of Malta’s prisons. The course, which will be in Maltese, is unique in its genre. It will run from October 20 until December 1, every Thursday between 6 and 8 p.m., at the Press Office, Archbishop’s Curia, Lion Street, Floriana.
