A three-year-old Libyan boy who had been brought to Malta for hospital treatment after suffering a brain injury, passed away last night at Mater Dei Intensive Therapy Unit died last night, the Ministry of Health said.

His body was this afternoon flown in a Medavia plane to his family in Misurata for burial. 

The boy was in Malta accompanied by his uncle, a Libyan doctor who lived in the UK.

On its way back to Malta, the plane brought back six seriously injured patients, who are not in a critical condition.

Three were taken to St James Capua in Sliema and three to the Gozo General Hospital.

All six are under 30 years old. Two are aged 17. 

31 Libyan patients have so far been brought over for treatment. Two, including the boy, succumbed to their injuries.
