The Times reported that “a 58-year-old man from Vittoriosa is expected to be charged today with causing the death of his pet dog, a female boxer found suffocating in a plastic bag that had been dumped in a skip in Kalkara” (October 3).

The report added: “Police sources said officers from the Żabbar police station received a tip-off and investigated the case together with the Cospicua district police”. The man has since been convicted of the crime and sentenced accordingly.

In June this year The Times reported that in 2009, 78 women from Malta had an abortion in the UK. In 2010 the number was 51. A total of 129 unborn children from Malta were killed in their mother’s womb. The laws of Malta protect the unborn child from “any” kind of harm, indeed from death.

Yet so far we have not heard or read that in spite of the fact that the police received this tip-off from the media, the police, and other authorities, are investigating these cases.
