Neil Muscat rarely fails to hit the headlines when he participates in swim meets. This young Neptunes swimmer is a prolific record-breaker who excels in all strokes.

Swimming in the season’s first time trial meet on Saturday, Muscat set new marks to add two more records and thus bring his impressive haul of national age-group limits to 14.

He was racing in the ‘B’ category reserved for 12-13 year-olds, when he registered 30.07 seconds in the 50 metres butterfly and 1:07.51 in the two-lap event.

These new limits erased those of 30.13 and 1:09.18 respectively held by Matthew Zammit since November and December 2008.

Meanwhile, in waterpolo, the ASA announced they will be staging two knock-out competitions for the Under 14 and Under 16 teams, the first ever in these categories.

At national level, after suffering a heavy 21-5 away defeat at the hands of Germany in the Euro qualification first leg earlier this month, Malta will again be in action when they face the Germans in the return match on Saturday, at Tal-Qroqq.
