On Monday, University welcomed approximately 3,561 new students to 697 courses, of which 2,839 enrolled in undergraduate courses and 722 in postgraduate degrees.

There are 405 inter-national students from 70 different countries.

There is now a total 11,341 students at University for the current academic year, of which 4,825 are men and 6,516 are women.

While at the Junior College there are a total of 2,517 students (1,417 men; 1,100 women). There are 1,421 first year students (783 women; 638 men), and 1,096 in second year (634 women; 462 men).

These figures are subject to slight variations.

There are 25 new University courses/areas of study over last year. New undergraduate courses include:

B.Sc. (Hons) in Built Environmental Studies, B.Sc. (Hons) (Pharmaceutical Science), B.Sc. (Hons) in Earth Systems, Bachelor of Library, Information and Archive Studies, Higher diploma in Administration and Management, Higher diploma in Marketing and Sales Management.

The new postgraduate courses include Master of Fine Arts in Digital Arts, Master of Science in Radiography – Radionuclide Imaging, M.Sc. in Environmental Management and Planning, M.Sc. in Rural Sciences, M.Sc. in Metamaterials, M.A. in Transcultural Counselling, Master in Family Studies, Master in Probation Services, Postgraduate diploma in Educational Leadership, Postgraduate diploma in Technology – Enhanced Learning.

The University also launched a new International Masters Programme leading to a dual award with the University of Maryland, US – Master of Arts in Transcultural Counselling. The University now offers four such programmes with US universities.
