Breast Care Support Group Europa Donna Malta (BCSGED) is holding a walk with a difference on Saturday to commemorate Breast Health Day

Titled ‘The Symbolic Silhouette Walk’, the event originated in Australia and is being held in Malta for the first time. Organisers explained that this short, yet meaningful walk was aimed at showing solidarity while raising breast cancer awareness.

Participants are being asked to carry one of three coloured silhouettes which can be dedicated to a friend or loved one. The colour pink represents the incidence of breast cancer in women, blue, the incidence in men and white silhouettes are being dedicated to those loved ones who have lost the battle with breast cancer.

Apart from showing solidarity with breast cancer sufferers, participants will be helping to spread breast cancer awareness which presently affects one in 10 women in Malta.

The walk will start near the Phoenicia Hotel in Floriana and will end in St George’s Square, Valletta, where there will be a minute’s silence in dedication to all those who have fallen victim to breast cancer.

Participation is free of charge. For more information, call: 2148 2602 or 9999 4666, or e-mail breastcaresupportgroup@gmail.com.
