A colleague of mine hase-mailed me a PDF file entitled Deċiżjonijiet 1, published bythe Kunsill Nazzjonalital-Ilsien Malti dwar il-Varjanti Ortografiċi.
I have a few questions.
1. All Maltese official documents are published in Maltese and English... was this document translated into English?
2. What is more important in a language? Is it grammar ororthography?
3. Is the Kunsill responsible for correct Maltese grammar?
4. I know of a Maltese linguist who is opposed to the use of the silent għ (għajn) in our alphabet. Will this be removed?
5. Why do we now have to write Ammen and not Amen?
6. Is the House of Representatives bound to publish the ‘official’ transcripts of the debates in the House in a grammatically correct manner?
The same question applies to court sentences and legal documents by notaries.
Can any member of the Kunsill answer these questions?
