St Benedict College Chess Academy recently organised the first Malta-Gozo Chess Experience Bus in Malta.

The two-day tour, which was attended by 30 students from the college, was the last activity of this year’s Summer Chess Camp.

This year, the chess camp promoted the project ‘Chess Highlights Entrepreneurship Skills and Strategies’, a project that has been awarded financial support by the Entrepreneurship European Scheme.

As part of this project, students had to design and launch an innovative chess tour promoting the game all over Malta.

The project’s aim is to disseminate knowledge of and love for the game in as many places as possible.

The chess tour kicked off from the academy’s premises in Kirkop. Stops included visits to the Micro-Light Aviation Club and training grounds at Luqa, Stella Maris College in Gżira, the University in Msida, and Rabat.

It also included a visit to Mellieħa’s Iljieli Melleħin, and a trip to Marsalforn and Munxar in Gozo.

The tour participants played chess all through the tour and shared their experiences with the local residents.
