The Malta Tourism Authority was handed the Best Destination Marketing Campaign Award at the 2011 World Routes Conference held this week in Berlin.
The MTA had been short listed together with the Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority, the Jordanian Tourism Board and the Greek National Tourism Organisation
The World Routes Conference is recognised as the leading gathering of the world aviation industry players together with other stakeholders such as national, regional and city tourist authorities and boards.
The award recognised the way the Malta Tourism Authority works closely with the airport, the airlines and other operators, the Authority said in a statement.
Josef Formosa Gauci, CEO of the MTA who collected the award said that, "This award recognised the continuous efforts of MTA to ensure adequate accessibility to our islands." He thanked all the staff at MTA for their continuous efforts and also recognised the excellent co-operation with Malta International Airport with whom MTA attends the Routes events.
The MTA's German Office was awarded the "Second Best Destination E-Learning Programme for Travel Agents". MTA Germany's popular "Malta Academy" scored second from among a total of 40 destination online training
