Full-time employment in May increased by 2.2 per cent when compared to the corresponding month last year.

The National Statistics Office said that administrative records provided by the Employment and Training Corporation indicate that the number of the full-time employed in May stood at 148,546, an increase of 2.2 per cent when compared to the corresponding month last year.

During the same period the number of registered unemployed dropped by 9.7 per cent to 6,366.

Total part-time employment in May increased by 2,247 over the preceding year.

The number of people whose part-time job was their primary occupation accounted for 56.4 per cent of total part-time employment. The majority were women.

Most of the 22,708 with a part-time job as a second job were men.
