Lifeguards from the Emergency Response and Rescue Corps received 319 calls for assistance during their patrols of the Blue Lagoon and Ramla Bay over the summer.

Besides numerous minor injuries treated on the spot, other more serious cases required transportation to hospitals in Gozo and Malta. Transporting of casualties to Gozo was carried out by the corps’ hydro ambulance, a water rescue boat equipped with advanced life support systems. Government departments supported the corps.
