Barocco Cultural Events will start its concert season with an impressive event: Wartime Songs, the songs they used to sing.

Throughout the whole season, there will be some concerts which have established themselves as part of the cultural calendar of Barocco Cultural Events, but there will also be some new themes and an innovative approach.

The events will have a very interesting and captivating format – singers, musicians, artists and dancers will be involved in the concerts. Painters will be at the venue and painting their own perspectives of the concert; simultaneously or at other concerts, dancers will be invited to dance during particular parts of the event. This will create a fusion of interdisciplinary arts developing in front of the audience’s presence.

The first concert will be held at Sagrestia Vault, Valletta Waterfront on October 14 at 7.30 p.m. Soprano Marita Bezzina and tenor Frans Mangion will be performing. They will be accompanied on piano by Ramona Zammit Formosa. Artist Jeni Caruana and some of Alison White’s dancers will be participating too.

The concert will focus on the songs which were so popular between World War I and World War II. The audience will relive the wartime years by listening to some of the era’s most popular songs, some of which have remained popular till this very day. Many of the songs of those times used to be popular for a long time and these songs helped keep the high morale and spirits of the people and the soldiers during the two world wars.

• Tickets for the concert may be obtained by phone on 7968 0952 or by e-mail: bookings@baroccomalta.com.
