A university student swore at Transport Minister Austin Gatt early this afternoon during a University event where he launched new ICT courses.

The incident happened at the end of speeches during a a ceremony hosted by the e-skills alliance.

The 20-year-old, who is in her final year of a theatre studies courses, shouted vulgar language at the minister calling him a f*****g w****r, insisting he was to blame for the problems of the bus service.

In between expletives, she said the service was ridiculous and the minister should be ashamed. She said it had taken her two hours to travel from Attard to Naxxar, when the Arriva website said the trip should have taken 40 minutes. Complaints to the company's customer care service drew no response.

The minister did not react to the incident and continued on his way out.

Some students congratulated their colleague while University officials told her the language was unbecoming and that was not the time and place for such complaints.
